PAX!
Renewing our faith in the risen Christ, in whom we place our certainty and our hope, we announce with emotion and gratitude that on November 30, 2023, at 9.20 am (local time), at the Holy House of Vinhedo (St. Paul / Brazil), welcomed the Celestial Groom into his arms.
SISTER PIERINA MINATTO
Province of Divine Providence
at the age of 92 and 68 of Religious Profession
Sister Pierina (Maria), was born in Nova Veneza – SC – Brazil, on 6 June 1931.
Sister Pierina had known our Congregation through her sister Sister Melania, who on 1 April 1953 brought her to the Congregation in the community of the Santa Otilia hospital in Orleans (Santa Catarina / Brazil). She was later transferred to Joinville where she began her postulancy and had Sister Vittoria Recchi as her teacher. On January 5, 1954, she entered the novitiate in Nova Veneza (Santa Catarina / Brazil) and received the name Sister Pierina in homage to her mother, Pierina Gava. Her novice mistress was Sister Beniamina Carbone.
Her Religious Profession took place on January 6, 1955, in the chapel of the Holy Family Institute in Nova Veneza (Santa Catarina / Brazil).
Sister Pierina, from the beginning of her religious life, was very available in service to others. She carried out her mission of caring for the elderly with love, especially the poor of the Vicenza Villas. She also collaborated in the pastoral care of the sick. She was a sensitive, attentive and respectful person. She treated everyone delicately. On the occasion of her 50th anniversary of her religious profession she was characterized by the virtue of her availability, a characteristic that she lived until her last days, compatible with her state of health. Her life, founded on silence and prayer, found strength in Jesus, her divine Spouse. Without making much noise, wherever she went she left signs of God’s benevolence.
Lately, her health worsened and on the morning of November 30, 2023, memory of Mother Giustina Schiapparoli and while the Church sang the praises of Saint Andrew, Apostle Martyr, she handed herself over to the embrace of Jesus to always live with Him.
May she watch over us from eternity and receive the reward of the righteous. We praise the Lord for the life of Sister Pierina who loved the poor and the Congregation. “Whether we live or die, we belong to the Lord” (Rom 14:8).
Her funeral will be celebrated today, December 1, 2023, at 11.00 am (local time), in the chapel of the Residencial Divina Providência in Vinhedo (St. Paul / Brazil), with a Holy Mass. Her burial will then take place at 3pm at the Acácias (Valinhos / St. Paul Cemetery).
In communion of prayer, united with all the sisters of the Province of Divine Providence, the Oblates, family and friends, we entrust this Sister of ours to Jesus and Mary.
“I have surrounded you with care, I have kept you as the apple of my eye!”
(from the memory of 60 years of Religious Profession)
MAY YOU REST IN THE PEACE OF THE LORD!
