Sister Agnese Biscaro
PAX!
Renewing our faith in the risen Christ, in whom we place our certainty and hope, we announce with emotion and gratitude that on May 19, 2023, at 9.25 pm (local time), in the sickbay of the Mother House – Voghera – Pavia (ITALY), the Celestial Bridegroom welcomed in his arms,
SISTER AGNES BISCARO
Province of Giustina and Maria Schiapparoli
at the age of 88 and 68 of Religious Profession
Sr. Agnese (Oliade) was born in Bovolenta – Padova – ITALY, on March 20, 1935.
Oliade met our Congregation in Montalto Pavese where she was with our Benedictine Sisters of Divine Providence. She entered the Congregation on January 14, 1954 in Voghera and was received by the local Superior, Sr. Cesarina Simonetti. At the time she was Superior General Mother Giovanna Zonca. In the same year she entered the Novitiate on August 7, 1954 and received the name of Sr. Agnese. Her godmother was Sr. Costanza Biscaro, her sister. Her novitiate teacher was Sr. Alessandrina Uboldi. The Religious Profession took place on August 15, 1955, in the Chapel of the Mother House – Voghera – Pavia.
The Biscaro family has enriched our Congregation with three sisters: Sr. Agnese, Sr. Costanza and Sr. Delfina. We praise the Lord for so much generosity.
Sr. Agnese, from the beginning of her journey in the Congregation, placed herself in the hands of the Lord
“Ready to do everything, with the resolute will to become a saint and thus give glory to God and save souls.” (Her words, Montalto Pavese, 1954).
In fact, always available to serve wherever she was needed, she nurtured a strong and compelling desire to be a missionary. She wrote to the Superior s General:
“I ask to be a missionary, where Jesus wants me, and I place myself under the obedience of my Superiors, sure of doing the holy will.” (1983 and 1990).
The Lord rewarded her: she was a missionary in Romania and Albania. From Romania, she wrote to Don Giulio, parish priest of the Rossa in Milan and recounted her happiness and the situation of the mission: “In this poverty I feel at ease, and I am very happy:
“I knew that there is nothing here, but I am happy because Jesus is with us… I thank you for what you can do for this population, which is very good and prays a lot: on Sundays I am moved to see and hear people praying and singing for almost two hours of mass. I thank the Lord for this testimony” (Oituz, June 2, 1992).
Sr. Agnese, a person of prayer, docile and good, she loved and gave herself to the service of the various communities in Italy, in particular, in welcoming and assisting children in kindergarten and also where it was necessary. With her smile and her kindness, she left the imprint of charity and fidelity where she passed: Campoferro, Pizzale, Paruzzaro, Dagnente, Pavia, Bonassola, Pegli – Italy and in the mission so dear to her: Oituz – Romania and Durres – Albania.
She was recently in the sickbay of the Mother House for due care. Yesterday evening, suddenly, at 21.25, on May 19, 2023, the heavenly Spouse picked up this beautiful flower and took it with him.
“Who from eternity continues to watch over us.”
To the relatives, nephews, especially her sister, Sister Delfina Biscaro, for a year in profound silence, our condolences and our gratitude for all that he was and did for the Kingdom of God.
We praise the Lord for the gift of Sr. Agnese’s life, faithful to the end.
Her funeral will be celebrated on Monday 22 May, at 09:30, in the chapel of the Mother House and then the burial in the Cemetery of Voghera – Pavia.
In communion of prayer, united with all the sisters of the Province Giustina and Maria Schiapparoli, with Sr. Delfina Biscaro, with family members and friends, we entrust this Sister of ours to Jesus, our beloved Spouse.
“We are among those who believed in charity” (St John)
